Britney Spears spurs squirrel meat sales
According to a new biography, pop singer Britney Spears grew up in Louisiana on squirrel meat hunted by her dad, Jaime. Now her fans are following in her footsteps and grabbing up squirrel meat.
Apparently squirrels, possums, and other roadkill were popular in Britney’s trailer park in Louisiana. Her fans are reading about it in her biography, titled “Britney: Inside The Dream”, by British author Steve Dennis, and following in the blond nutcase’s footsteps.
Squirrel meat is considered a favored meat in certain regions of the United States[16] where it can be listed as wild game. This is evidenced by extensive recipes for its preparation found in cookbooks, including older copies of The Joy of Cooking. Squirrel meat can be exchanged for rabbit or chicken in recipes, though it can have a gamey taste. Unlike the healthfulness of most game meat, the American Heart Association has found squirrels to be high in cholesterol.

If you have ever seen squirrels lunge at songbirds to chase them away from a bird feeder you’d change your tune. If you have ever had a strawberry bed where the dammed things took ONE bite out of every berry so that they weren’t usable they wouldn’t look cute anymore. How about having sweet potatoes, beets, turnips and squash chewed on? My cousin Myra from the south says that not enough people shoot squirrels anymore. She’s right and that is why my son shoots at them now with a shotgun. We don’t eat the rodents, but just love to kill ‘em.

This is not about stinky old Britney, (poor little misguided popsicle), this is about those G-damn squirrels and the fact that they carry diseases and are chewing, hoarding, feces laying nuisances. I enjoy plinking them off with my Anschutz .17 HM2 Caliber Rifle and letting the local birds of prey and crows (shoot them too) finish the scraps. Takes up my time now that I’m not driving any more.

The Hav-a-hart trap works just fine on squirrels. Don’t bother relocating them. Takes too much time and gasoline. Just just plunge the whole trap with the rat inside into a waste barrel filled with swamp water and in 30 seconds you’re ready for the next one. Dead, rotting squirrels make great bait for the raccoon trap, too. Think green and waste nothing.

I have hunted squirrel all my life and they are one of my favorite critters to eat. Fry them up and put them in a pressure cooker for about 20 ~ 30 minutes with some flour and the grease from the skillet and you’ve got a squirrel and gravy feast! It just don’t get any better than that!

Hands down, Apple’s app store wins by a mile. It’s a huge selection of all sorts of apps vs a rather sad selection of a handful for Zune. Microsoft has plans, especially in the realm of games, but I’m not sure I’d want to bet on the future if this aspect is important to you. The iPod is a much better choice in that case.
